What I can offer

I have considerable experience of undertaking effective and focused original research, and am able to investigate the history of families throughout the United Kingdom. I present this research in a detailed and accessible format. Two recent testimonials can be found below.

Genealogy

I can trace your genealogy using a variety of records if your ancestors lived in the UK. I investigate specific questions, trace one or more branches and search for individuals. I have the distinct advantage of being based close to the National Archives in London, so I am able to draw upon the invaluable records held there quickly and without incurring travel expenses. I also regularly use other archives and libraries in the London area for my research, and have extensive experience of using local and county archives throughout the UK.

"Dr Nicholas Dixon undertook to trace my maternal grandmother who died soon after giving birth to my mother. He painstakingly worked on what little I knew about her and was able to tell me her birth was registered under her mother’s surname. Nicholas provided a detailed report on the various avenues he has explored to arrive at the information he was able to give me and I am confident his findings are correct."

House History

In addition to genealogy, I offer in-depth research concerning house history to those resident in the UK. I investigate the history of houses and their former owners and residents. Even if your place of residence was built relatively recently, I can look into the land on which it stands.

"Nicholas was clear from the start about his process and uncovered more than we would have thought possible in the time available. We learned how the building developed over time, how previous occupants would have used the space, and its place in local social history. A job very well done!"
